Starting tonight, over thirty bars in Dublin are participating in the city’s second Cocktail festival and, after weeks of preparation, they have each released the recipe of their custom cocktail. Buy your five euro wristband at any of the venues and get all of these cocktails for eight euro or under. Here’s tn2’s list of top picks of bars to visit.
1.Bow Lane
Bow Lane, the new project of steakhouse The Whitefriar Grill, has finally arrived, after months of titillating Facebook posts. If there was any time to go and experience the sleek new bar in all its finery, it’s this week.
“Banasourous-Rex”, a wonderfully sweet cocktail, is the reason for The Meeting House being shortlisted. For those who cower away from a cocktail menu that has nothing but bitter drinks, this one’s for you. At the base of the mix you’ll find pineapple infused Tullamore Dew.
If you want to splash out on a more lavish cocktail experience, look no further than The VCC. You can go for a meal here as well, and avail of the taste.ie food and drink pairing. They are offering their signature cocktail “Don’t Beet about the Bush”’ with an antipasto board to share for just 25 euro.
4. 777
777 are serving up a very cool and contemporary drink, if you’re lucky enough to get a seat in this tiny Mexican gem. Poitín has been making a re-emergence in the last couple of years, and it forms the base of this cocktail, mixed with zesty lime and ginger flavours. If the Margaritas here are anything to go by, this one will be immensely popular.
Drury Buildings will be serving the Grapefruit Vodka Martini. As an alternative, get the Amber Martini here on a dry day and enjoy it out back on the terrace.
For something warmer
If you’re feeling chilly over the week or have the whisperings of a cold, Saba have kindly reworked the traditional Irish Coffee and Balfes have put their twist on a Hot Whiskey.
With the inside scoop on what bars to hit this week, there is no excuse to deny yourself a delicious cocktail now.
