Horror Film in the Making: “She Forgives” Former TN2 film writer and Trinity graduate Sarah-Kate Fenelon is in New York and producing "She Forgives," a gut-wrenching horror film exploring female empowerment and revenge.

After a night of infidelity, Rainn takes his girlfriend, Evelyn, on a romantic country retreat to try and restore her faith in their relationship, but it all comes to a bloody end when Evelyn discovers the truth about what really happened that night. She Forgives is a short horror film which explores themes of temptation, guilt, and revenge, and an undoubted feeling of something chasing you, because you invited it to. It’s atonement gone wrong. It’s a horror of our characters own doing, and Rainn is going to have to live and die by his actions.

She Forgives is produced by TCD alumna Sarah-Kate Fenelon, who is in her final year of the MFA in Creative Film Producing at Columbia University. After graduating from Trinity College with a BA in English and Drama, Fenelon worked on many short and feature sets in Ireland before accepting a place at the prestigious film school in New York. Its emphasis on story development and the writing behind the movie attracted Fenelon to Columbia in particular, and She Forgives will be her final film there.

As the story continued to develop,  it became clear that a theme of female empowerment was being discovered. Evelyn is no victim, but rather the embodiment of Rainn’s nightmare. She is coming for him and for what he did. This is what happens when Wendy picks up the axe in The Shining, and when Marion Crane pulls back the shower curtain first and stabs Norman Bates in the eye. This is Rosemary’s baby but she’s keeping it! If you love classic suspenseful titles such as The Shining, Misery, The Exorcist, Halloween, or more recent titles like It Follows, The Babadook, Lights Out, and The Invitation, then you’ll see that this story has everything you could want to make a well-crafted and gut-wrenching movie.

Sarah-Kate Fenelon and Henry Evans, the screenwriter/director and mastermind behind She Forgives, are currently fundraising on Indiegogo. If you love horror or a good revenge story please help them by donating to the page. In return, the film, and its success, will be shared with you over the next few months. Please check it out, every euro counts.
