Dolce & Gabbana: Love is Beauty The underlying philosophy of the 'Secret Show' is not simply a celebration of beauty and preciousness, it’s an attempt to redefine an entire generation of Millennials.

Following their well-known love for excess and luxury, Dolce & Gabbana presented their pre – spring/summer 2018 collection in a (not so) secret event in Milan. In the sophisticated atmosphere of the Magenta Café, The Secret Show was not only a runway of beautiful dresses, but a  parade of the most influential young people of the jet set. Aristocrats, influencers, sons and daughters of famous parents, were perfectly combined with the precious textures and patterns of the dresses, in a triumph of flowers, vivid colours, and gigantic hearts.

The underlying philosophy of the Secret Show is not simply a celebration of beauty and preciousness, it’s an attempt to redefine an entire generation of Millennials. The aristocracy isn’t simply a question of blue blood or family fame, it’s also the ability of building a new Empire, going from Zero to Hero just with personal strength and commitment, like the beautiful and talented chef Tess Ward who rocked the runway in an amazing bustier floral dress. The aristo – millennials are the new and dominant generation of our time, upsetting the classic canons of nobility and success by proclaiming their new, and purely aesthetic, values: Money, Power, Glory (Lana del Rey docet). A perfect life dressed with perfect dresses,  a personification of a flawless lifestyle wrapped in silk.

To the timeless symphony of Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana, Lady Amelia Windsor, the Ruspoli brothers, Eleonore Von Habsburg and many more, created a sort of micro – cosmos of restored royalty, melted with the ancient beauty of a baroque Sicily. Anticipating the theme of the official fashion show, burning red hearts appeared on the dresses, accessories and hairstyles, symbols of the greatest noblewoman of all time: The Queen of Hearts.

The style of this new collection is elegant and massively luxurious, with an excess of golden embroidery, silky flowers, velvet jackets and luminous jewellery. Provocative, original and extremely beautiful, the Dolce and Gabbana Secret Show was an amazing ode to pure beauty, recalling the past and projecting the future, and creating a dream world under the motto “L’amore è Bellezza” (Love is Beauty).
