Irish TV comedy “Damo & Ivor” comes to the big screen

The famous Irish TV comedy Damo & Ivor will become a full feature film in 2018!

Wildcard Distribution will be bringing the comedy Damo & Ivor The Movie to Irish cinemas next year. Production of the film is starting this summer with Parallel Films and Blue Ink Films, and Ronan and Rob Burke set to direct.

Damo & Ivor began in 2011 on RTE’s Republic of Telly, before becoming a hit on YouTube with over 8 million views. The satirical comedy follows the lives of identical twin brothers Damo and Ivor (both played by Andy Quirke) who were separated at birth. Damo grows up with his grandmother ‘Grano’ in North Dublin while Ivor lives with his wealthy parents in Foxrock. The show plays on North-South Dublin stereotypes, with the twins personifying them to the point of ridiculousness. In the upcoming film, Damo and Ivor will set off on an adventure around Ireland to find their long lost brother John Joe.

The directors are sure the film will be a great success: “We are beyond excited to be directing Damo & Ivor The Movie. It is a hilarious script that brings these characters to the big screen in a big way.  The fans will not be disappointed, it’s gonna be whopper!”

Similarly, Andy Quirke, the lead actor, creator and writer of the series is optimistic. “With a fan base as big as this I really feel it will break some records! I can’t wait for the fans to come on this next part of the journey.”

We will have to wait until 2018 to see for ourselves.
